Apple has been tremendously successful with its iOS App Store, and is about to replicate the same model with its OS X powered devices, via a brand new Mac App Store. According to the Cupertino company, the new Mac App Store will make discovering, installing and updating Mac apps easier than ever. Apple plans to make the store available in 90 countries, with a launch date scheduled for January 6. The store will feature both paid and free apps in all categories, from Games to Utilities. According to Apple CEO Steve Jobs, the Mac App Store will help boost Mac Apps consumption, by allowing users to find new apps, browse through various categories, and read customer ratings and reviews. Like with the current iOS App Store, users will be allowed to purchase and install apps directly from the Mac App Store. “We hope to do the same for PC apps with the Mac App Store by making finding and buying PC apps easy and fun. We can’t wait to get started on January 6” said Jobs in an interview earlier this week.
