Rovio’s smash hit Angry Birds has been the most sold iPhone app over the last couple of months, as no other app managed to take over the top spot on our Apps Tracker since at least Christmas 2010. Things changed overnight though, as a little app called Tiny Wings managed to kick Angry Birds out of the picture, and almost instantly became the number one paid app in the App store. The developer, Andreas Illiger, is of course ecstatic. To make a long story short, the game is a blast. The gameplay is incredibly simple, as your character, a bird, needs to clear levels entirely composed of hills of various shapes and size. Simply slide down hills to gain speed, and then jump over and over again. The game is all about timing, as your repeated jumps will allow you to gain enough speed to clear increasingly larger obstacles. Your bird can fly (a little), however the game is almost entirely about gaining speed, and manipulating gravity. Note that the app’s graphics may not work for everyone, as Tiny Wings looks more like a cartoon than an actual game, but regardless, the game is a lot of fun, fast paced, and incredibly addictive. The game is available on the app store, and costs less than $1. For more details, click here.
