Earlier this morning, Apple ‘kindly’ sent iPad 2 launch email reminders to all of its current iOS-powered device customers. The email invites folks in the market for a new tablet to get in line on Friday, to be one of the first to get the new device. When Apple launched the original iPad on April 3rd, 2010, each one of its 221 retail stores, and most of the Best Buy stores, were inundated with hundreds of potential buyers. While we’ll never know how many folks were actually standing in line on that day, Apple did manage to sell a whopping 300,000 iPads in the first 24 hours after the launch. As for the iPad 2 launch this Friday at 5PM, Apple will again have iPad 2s for sale at all of its retail locations and at most Best Buy stores, but this time around, the device will also be available at Target, Walmart, and most at&t and Verizon stores across the country – over 10,000 points of sales in total. Thanks to this extensive network, lines will likely be shorter than lines for the first iPad launch, and should help Apple sell iPad 2s more quickly. Do you think Apple will beat its own record of 300,000 iPads sold in just a day?
