Apple on Track for a March 25 iPad 2 International Launch

Czech Apple website – Left, April 25 launch (as seen on Saturday) – Right, March 25 launch (current)

Over the weekend, a promotional screen on the Czech Apple website sparked a rumor about a potential iPad 2 international launch delay: instead of the expected March 25 launch date, the site showed April 25. As it turns out, it was nothing more than a typo. Despite major shortages across the U.S., the iPad 2 is on track for a March 25 launch in the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. International buyers, do not rejoice just yet, as lines at local Apple retail locations across the globe are unlikely to be any shorter than the lines witnessed at most U.S. Apple Stores – be prepared to show up at your local store very early on Friday, to make sure you won’t go back home empty handed.

As expected, the device will be available at 5pm on Friday in the UK – Credit Picture RazorianFly

Note that a report from RazorianFly confirms that the device is expected to hit store shelves in the UK on Friday at 5 pm local time. While the report only applies to a specific retailer in the UK, the same should apply to the other countries expected to start selling iPad 2s this week. Also worth noting, the iPad 2 pricing is the same as for the iPad 1, starting at 389€/£399 for the 16GB WiFi-only model.
