Dev Team Getting Close to Releasing iOS 4.3 Untethered Jailbreak

Things seem to be happening on the jailbreaking front since Stefan Esser – aka i0n1c – uncovered a new iOS 4.3.x exploit a couple of days ago: according to the iPhone security expert, the Dev Team is already beta-testing his untether, in order to include it in an upcoming jailbreak tool. While no date has been given at this stage, it shouldn’t take long before the Dev Team finally comes up with a full, untethered jailbreak compatible with iOS 4.3 and iOS 4.3.1. As reported by iOSnoops yesterday, Esser’s exploit is only compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and first generation iPad, so do not expect an iPad 2 untethered jailbreak to be released anytime soon. Several weeks ago, Comex, the hacker behind jailbreakme, was the first to uncover an exploit compatible with the new tablet, but the hack has since then been patched by Apple, via the iOS 4.3.1 update.
