Over the last months, Sony has been struggling to keep its PlayStation Network up and running – the network has been impacted by a slew of outages which began on April 20, 2011 and affected 77 million registered accounts, due to an “external intrusion,” which resulted in personal details from most user accounts stolen by an unidentified group of hackers. Recently, the network has finally been secured, and put back online – but it still suffers from sporadic outages. If you happen to be an avid gamer, rejoice, as a new iPhone application released by developer Logicswarm will let you know when the PlayStation Network is available. PSN Status is an iPhone app, that only does one thing: let you know when the network is up. The app is extremely easy to use, simply fire it up before you plan to game, instead of having to boot up your PlayStation 3, to check whether you can use the online features or not.
The app is absolutely free, and available for download here.
