Flipboard for iPad Receives Major Update

Flipboard fans, rejoice, as the iPad app received a major update earlier today. While the previous version of the app was already one of the best iPad apps out there, the new version of the app, dubbed version 1.5, adds a slew of new features – needless to say, this update rocks. One of the biggest improvements of Flipboard 1.5 is in how you navigate, as the app now offers a new way to quickly search, browse, and favorite all the social content you’re interested in: a red ribbon, located in the upper right corner of the screen, pulls out a new guide that lets you search for any person, topic or blog, or just browse the a slew of new sections now arranged by category. In other words, you won’t need to add a section first to view it. To save a section, a new “add” button is now available in the upper left corner of the screen. The app lets you see up to two pages of favorites as tiles, and you can see the rest in the guide. Also, to re-arrange your favorite sections, simply hit the new “edit” button.

If you happen to be addicted to LinkedIn, the app now offers full support of the service, and lets you choose from more than 30 industry-specific news feeds, to gain access to articles being shared in your professional network. Overall, the update is streamlined and easier to use, as most functions are never more than one click away. To go straight to a full-screen view of any type of articles, simply tap on it, and the app will automatically pull all the relevant content, including slideshows if available. To flip to the next article, simply flip. As usual, Flipboard for iPad is absolutely free. More details about the app here.
