After months of waiting, Boxee finally launched its iPad app earlier today. The app allows Boxee users to stream wirelessly the content available on their Boxee Box to their iPad, when connected to the same network. Boxee for iPad also allows iPad users to play content stored on their Mac or PC, via a new Boxee Media Manager, just like AirVideo, and the now defunct ZumoCast. To support the iPad, Boxee users will need to update the firmware of their device to release 1.2, released alongside the Boxee app for iPad. The update also includes a slew of improvements, such as NFS, AFP and AirPlay support, as well as a snappier user interface, a faster browser, and a new “Watch Later” feature, that will allow you to queue up online videos and watch them later. The iPad app is absolutely free, and can be downloaded here. Boxee Media Manager for Mac and PC can be downloaded here.
