Few thought this one would actually pass through Apple’s stringent guidelines, but Cinemax’s new Max Go managed to land on the App Store earlier today. While the app is just like any other streaming app out there, as it offers a slew of shows and movies, what makes Max Go unique is its ‘After Dark’ category, with content that requires the viewer to be 17 years of age or older, due to their adult nature– you read correctly, the app actually offers content that qualifies as ‘softcore’. Yet, the app was approved, despite the fact that it violates Apple’s infamous policies when it comes to adult content. Is Apple loosening up? Maybe. Or this could be nothing more than an oversight, and Apple might eventually decide to pull Max Go from the App Store until Cinemax removes the After Dark section. Besides the controversy, the app is actually neat. It gives instant access to over 400 of the biggest Hollywood hit movies and indie favorites. Users can create customized playlists, and Max Go automatically sends notifications when new shows/episodes are available. here.
