About a picture is an award winning app that serves to help children develop their speech using pictures and sounds. This speech therapy app lets you create photo albums with pictures representing My friends, At grandma or Favourite pets for instance. Each picture can have a recording assigned that describes the picture. The child listens, repeats and develops its speech. You can also add video to you albums.
When the child uses the app it is possible to record what the child says. This allows for a parent to review the speech development over time and using training goals the child is encourage to view a number of pictures each time. The goal is an optional number of pictures based on the level of the child.
Our users, including speech therapists and special education teachers, have found an alternative use of the app serving as a diary, story book for social stories and for giving step-by-step instructions.
