Apple Officially Confirms iPad 2 on Track for March 25 International Launch, Additional Countries to Follow over Coming Weeks

While the iPad 2 is almost impossible to find in the U.S., an Apple representative confirmed that the device is on track for a March 25 launch in the rest of the world. As stressed by iOSnoops yesterday, despite some initial concerns about potential delays, the device will indeed hit store shelves of 25 countries on Friday, 5 pm local time. According to an interview with TechRadar, an Apple representative simply said that “everything that is on the [Apple UK] website still holds true; the website says 25 March and that’s when it’ll be,” when asked about the Czech Apple’s website, showing a launch date of April 25, instead of March 25. Earlier today, Apple also posted an official press release on its website, to confirm the pricing and availability of the device.
Apple® today announced that iPad® 2, the second-generation of its third post-PC device, will go on sale in 25 additional countries this Friday, March 25. iPad 2 will be available at Apple retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers at 5 p.m. local time, and online through the Apple Store® ( beginning at 1 a.m. Apple today also announced that all models of iPad 2 will be available in Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and additional countries in April.
Hong Kong, Korea and Singapore were not on the launch list thus far, and the device should be available in these countries over the coming weeks as well. International buyers, be prepared to show up at your local store very early on Friday, to make sure you won’t go back home empty handed, as lines at local Apple retail locations across the globe are unlikely to be any shorter than the lines witnessed at most U.S. based Apple Stores.
