What's On My Food?

Pesticide Action Network
What's On My Food? is your decoder ring for the chemicals on your food. This tool helps savvy shoppers sort green-washing and scare-mongering from differences that make a difference. Using independent science, objective data from unbiased sources, and decades of experience in the field of pesticide reform, Pesticide Action Network's tool links pesticide residue data with the health information (toxicology) for each chemical, making this information publicly available for the first time.

As it turns out, some pesticides are really scary while others aren't so bad - the trick is sorting these risks according to what matters most to you.

The app is a searchable database - using the most unbiased and comprehensive data sources from gov't agencies - designed to make the ins and outs of pesticide exposure visible and more understandable to the non-expert. Because not all pesticides are created equal. Get the facts.

Backed by:

· Toxicology data cross-reference from multiple authoritative and unbiased, government listings.
· PAN’s PesticideInfo.org database, which compiles toxicity, chemical composition and regulatory information on thousands of pesticides. (Government agencies from around the world rely on this database because it is the most comprehensive of it's kind.)
· Millions of tests from USDA’s Pesticide Data Program.

· Free, searchable database of 93 foods
· Visual toxicity legend gives a quick handle on health risks associated with particular pesticides:
> Carcinogenicity (Cancer)
> Neurotoxicity
> Developmental or Reproductive Toxicity
> Endocrine (Hormone System) Disruption
> New in 2.0: Honeybee Toxicity

· Conventional vs. Organic comparison on most foods
· Links to deeper information & opportunities to take action

Use the app, share it with others: we built it to help move the public conversation about pesticides into an arena where you don’t have to be an expert to participate.

What's new in version 2.0
Updated pesticide data on more chemicals; added a honey bee toxicity dimension (bee icon), so users can see which pesticides on their food are toxic to bees.

*NOTE: The data on this app come from unbiased, government sources.
