** FAQ **

Q: Will this app scan for WiFi networks?

A: No, this app only provides information about the device's WiFi connection. Please search web for "wifi scanner banned" for more info.

Q: Why do I have to toggle WiFi off/on to take a new reading?

A: Toggling the WiFi off/on in the app would make the app non compliant with app store rules.

Q: Why doesn't my data rate show 150 Mbps or 300 Mbps per second? I have a new 802.11n access point and my laptop is connected at 150 Mbps.

A: The app is reporting exactly what the operating system is providing as the "associated" data rate. The actual speed of the WiFi will be less than the associated data rate. iOS devices are single stream devices that are limited to 72 Mbps.

Q: Why can't the app report the IP address of the AP?

A: If you are using a consumer grade access point the IP address of the access point is most likely your gateway IP address. For enterprise access points the IP address can not be determined from information available about the WiFi connection.
